The land that Union Church is built on was part of one thousand acres on Bullskin Creek purchased by Christian Shinkle on June 15th 1805.Shinkle later donated land for a school house,a cemetery and a church. |

The Union Church was the first religious society in Lewis Township.The first chapel was built in 1821 . The church was rebuilt in 1852 and the current church was built in 1873
