Christian Shinkle

 


 

The land that Union Church is built on was part of one thousand acres on Bullskin Creek  purchased by Christian Shinkle on June 15th  1805.Shinkle later donated land for a school house,a cemetery and a church.


 

The Union Church was the first religious society in Lewis Township.The first chapel was built in 1821 . The church was rebuilt in 1852 and the current church was built in 1873
